Diagnostic value of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) in differentiation between normal and abnormally thickened endometrium: prospective study

چکیده
Abstract Background Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) can be beneficial to differentiate between endometrium and other uterine layers. It is believed that it used normal abnormally thickened . The purpose of this study was find out the diagnostic value DTI as an extension DWI in characterization from normal. Results This included 68 females, results 3 them were excluded (unable complete study), so final number 65 females subdivided into 2 groups; (A) control: 24 (13 premenopausal 11 asymptomatic postmenopausal), (B) pathological endometrium: 41 (11 30 postmenopausal): benign (21 patients) malignant (20 patients). collected data correlated histopathological (as gold standard) cases endometrial pathologies. mean DW-ADC values for normal, benign, patients 1.43 ± 0.13, 1.56 0.17, 0.86 0.16 respectively with significant statistical difference lesions ( P = 0.006), lesions, ˂ 0.001). DTI-FA 0.349 0.08, 0.29 0.09, 0.299 0.08 0.02), but there no regarding or ˃ 0.05). Also, a DTI-MD (1.59 0.06) (1.37 0.09), (0.71 0.25), DT-MD had higher sensitivity, specificity, accuracy than both DT-FA differentiating Conclusion (added DWI) valuable non-invasive tool increase conditions, helping early management, decrease possibility misdiagnosis.

Diffusion-Weighted Imaging and Diffusion Tensor Imaging
Assessment of the integrity of the articular cartilage is considered key for the early diagnosis of osteoarthritis (OA). Diffusion-weighted imaging and diffusion tensor imaging have potential as biomarkers for cartilage composition and structure. The value of diffusion to detect compositional and structural changes in the cartilage matrix has been shown in ex vivo experiments for several years....
متن کاملDynamic Contrast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DCE-MRI) and Diffusion Weighted MR Imaging (DWI) for Differentiation between Benign and Malignant Salivary Gland Tumors
Background: Salivary gland tumors form nearly 3% of head and neck tumors. Due to their large histological variety and vicinity to facial nerves, pre-operative diagnosis and differentiation of benign and malignant parotid tumors are a major challenge for radiologists. Objective: The majority of these tumors are benign; however, sometimes they tend to transform into a malignant form. Functional M...
متن کاملDifferentiation of Edematous, Tumoral and Normal Areas of Brain Using Diffusion Tensor and Neurite Orientation Dispersion and Density Imaging
Background: Presurigical planning for glioma tumor resection and radiotherapy treatment require proper delineation of tumoral and peritumoral areas of brain. Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is the most common mathematical model applied for diffusion weighted MRI data. Neurite orientation dispersion and density imaging (NODDI) is another mathematical model for DWI data modeling. Objective: We stud...
